At the 12th Deichstadt Cup in Neuwied, Rhineland-Palatinate, Dominik Ivo was still marked by the tough race he had ridden the day before. On the first third of 78 race kilometres in total, he didn't feel well and rode calmy among the peloton. His team colleague Patrick Oeben rode far more actively and aggressively, trying to initiate a top group several times and closing gaps to groups of escapees. When six riders of the A/B-class were sent into the race with an advance of 30 sec. to form the top group 18 laps before the finish, two riders managed to get away from the peloton and Dominik Ivo caught up with them on his own. The three of them increased their advance steadily. Ivo attacked on the home strait and won his first race in this season. Patrick Oeben was happy, too, after being able to show a great sprint at the end and finishing as third rider among the peloton. The cyclist from Büttgen has thus realised his aim to be promoted into the A-class. |
